Bills name Joe Brady head coach
4 weeks ago - Sportingbase
The Buffalo Bills have named Joe Brady of Pembroke Pines, Florida as their new head coach according to Mike Moraitis of The Sporting News on Wednesday. Brady had been the offensive coordinator for the Bills the last two seasons.
Brady takes over from Sean McDermott, who was fired on January 19. McDermott had been the Bills head coach for the last nine seasons and posted a record of 98 wins and 50 losses for a winning percentage of .662. Even though McDermott got the Bills to the playoffs eight times, Buffalo never reached The Super Bowl in that time.

The fact that the Bills hired Brady, a coach within the Bills organization, is interesting based on recent events that have taken place. Since the Bills have been eliminated from the postseason, Bills owner Terry Pegula blamed the Bills coaching staff for drafting wide receiver Keon Coleman in the second round, 33rd overall, in the 2024 NFL Draft. When the criticism took place, it appeared it would be just a matter of time before Coleman would leave the Bills. Now there is a possibility he could stay, even though fences need to be mended.

Brady was selected because the Bills scored the fourth most points in the NFL this season with 481. The only three teams in the NFL that scored more points than the Bills were the Los Angeles Rams (518), New England Patriots (490), and Seattle Seahawks (483).
Prior to being the Bills’s offensive coordinator, Brady was the Bills quarterbacks coach in 2022 and 2023. He was also the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and 2021.
