Best rounds in the history of the LPGA Tour

This past weekend, Jessica Korda of Bradenton, Florida won the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions from Lake Buena Vista, Florida in a playoff over Danielle Kang. Korda’s four-round score was -24, but everyone is talking about her third round, when she posted a score of 60. That is tied for the second-best round of golf in LPGA history. Let us take a look at who else is in the top six.
2) Meg Mallon–In the second round of the 2003 Welch’s/Fry’s Championship in Tucson, Arizona, Mallon of Natick, Massachusetts shot a second-round score of 60. She finished the tournament tied for sixth at -16, five strokes back of champion Wendy Doolan of Sydney, Australia.
2) Jung Yeon Lee–A year later at the same tournament, the 2004 Welch’s/Fry’s Championship, Lee of South Korea posted a score of -17 after a first-round score of 60. Lee finished the tournament in a second-place tie with Grace Park, five strokes back of Karen Stupples of England.
2) Anna Acker-Macosko–Also in 2004, Anna Acker-Macosko of Marshfield, Wisconsin shot a fourth-round score of 11-under-par 60, to finish the tournament at -13, and five strokes back of champion Christina Kim of the United States at the Longs Drugs Challenge from Danville, California.
2) Paula Creamer–At the 2008 Jamie Farr Toledo Classic in Ohio, Creamer of Mountain View, California shot a first-round score of 60. She birdied nine of her last 11 holes for the round. Like Korda, Creamer won the tournament as she posted a four-round score of -16 to beat American Nicole Castrale by two strokes.

1)Annika Sorenstam–One of the greatest golfers of all-time and the president of the International Golf Federation shot a record score of 59 at the 2001 Standard Register PING tournament in Phoenix, Arizona. Sorenstam’s -13 in the second round helped her post a four-round score of -27, as she beat Se Ri Pak of South Korea by two strokes.
