Rosehill Race 4 – Verry Elleegant

Addeybb had the mare’s measure when they met in this race last year but I’m banking on the tables turning this year.

Since then the European has gone on to finish 2nd in the G1 Prince of Wales and won both the Listed Doonside Cup and the Group 1 Champion Stakes back in Europe.

Verry Elleegant has since crowned herself as Australia’s WFA superstar winning the Winx Stakes, the Turnbull Stakes, the Caulfield Cup and The Chipping Norton Stakes.

The wet track will suit both but the fact that Verry Elleegant has matured into a 5yo mare at the peak of her powers compared to her rival who comes back as a 7yo makes me lean towards the Waller mare at the slightly better odds.

Tip: 2 Units win Verry Elleegant @$2.6 With TopSport

Rosehill Race 7 – Anamoe

Anamoe has got out to huge odds in the Slipper on the back of drawing barrier 16 and also the fact he has never run on anything worse than a Good 4.

I think both of those things may well play into the son of Street Boss’ hands assuming the Rosehill track may be a mess late in the day and the best part of the track will likely be down the outside and barrier 16 may not be so bad.

His sire has a 14% winning strike rate of runners on wet tracks compared to 11% on good surfaces which suggests he will get through the going.

It’s also worth noting that Anamoe defeated race favourite Profiteer in their outing in the Todman Stakes last start. The fact that Profiteer is $3.6 and Anamoe has drifted out to $18 is mind blowing!

Tip: 1 Unit Each Way Anamoe @$16/$4.5 With TopSport

Rosehill Race 8 – Wild Ruler

Wild Ruler stepped out for his first run this preparation in the Listed Fireball Stakes and easily put away a field of up and coming 3yos.

The Snowden trained colt jumped well and was quickly headed by Mamaragan who went on to set blistering early sectionals. J Mac sat four lengths off the tear away leader in second and was forced to cart the field up to the leader.

Mamaragan quickly faded and eventually finished 4L away last in the small field. The race shaped nicely for the likes of Andermatt, Doubtland and On the Lead to finish strong from the tail of the field but when asked to deliver Wild Ruler pinned the ears back and let down a strong run to win by 1.3L over place getters he was giving away 3kg to due to the set weight with penalty conditions.

He steps up to Group 1 company in the Galaxy at Rosehill and benefits from dropping right down to 52kg. Seasoned sprinters like Eduardo, Fabergino, Tailleur, Haut Brion Her and Jonker are going to ensure there is a hectic pace up front. I can see Wild Ruler sitting in behind them and fanning out to the best part of the track and being very strong late here.

Tip: 2 Units Win Wild Ruler @$7.5 With TopSport
