Randwick Race 6 – Standout
Standout steps out in the Southern Cross Stakes and brings with him a terrific 1st up record (3:2-0-0). He won the G2 Expressway last autumn and if he can bring that form he’ll be really hard to hold out. He looked to be flying in a recent trial where he flew home from the back of the field to finish 3rd.
He will get back here and will be charging through the line late as long is there is enough speed up front. The weather will play a big factor. If the rain comes and the track is wet i’ll be jumping off and hopping on Masked Crusader.

Randwick Race 7 – Kolding
The G2 Apollo Stakes see the return of some of the stars of Sydney racing with the likes of Verry Elleegant, Funstar and Colette kicking off their autumn campaigns. I’m going with the only horse with race fitness on its side; the Waller trained Kolding.
Kolding ran well last start finishing 2nd behind Savatiano in a slowly run race. He has 5 wins from 11 starts at Randwick and I do believe that run will give him a big advantage against a field that are all returning from a spell.
I am scared of Caufield Cup winner Verry Elleegant who is without a doubt the class horse of the field. I’m banking on her needing the run after returning from what was a big Cups campaign in the spring.
I can see Kolding sitting one out and one back and holding off fast finishers Verry Elleegant, Colette and Mugatoo.

Randwick Race 9 – Subedar
Subedar is a 4yo gelding from the Cummings yard that I expect to work his way up to stakes company this autumn. To do that the grey son of Sepoy should be winning this BM 88.
I took special note of his 1st run in over a year when he charged home from last to finish 0.5L behind All Time Legend. He loomed up and looked like he was going to go past the winner but laid in under pressure at the wrong time.
James Cummings had previously declared that he was going to need the run, so after another trial I am expecting a big run here.
