Bengals sign tight end Noah Fant

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed tight end Noah Fant of Omaha, Nebraska to a one-year contract. The financial terms of the contract were not announced according to the Associated Press.

Fant is joining his third National Football League franchise. He has spent three seasons each with the Denver Broncos (2019 to 2021), and the Seattle Seahawks (2022 to 2024).

This past season Fant had 48 catches for 500 receiving yards and a touchdown. The major score came in the Seahawks’ final game of the season, a 30-25 Seahawks win over the Los Angeles Rams on January 5. Fant had a 16-yard touchdown catch from Geno Smith with three minutes and 19 seconds left in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring. Interestingly, it was the final touchdown for the Seahawks in the entire season, and the final touchdown pass by Smith as a member of the Seahawks. He is now a member of the Las Vegas Raiders.

When Fant changed teams for the first time in his NFL career, he was involved in a blockbuster deal that saw Russell Wilson go from Seattle to Denver. Now expect Fant to have respectable statistics with the Cincinnati Bengals as their quarterback is Joe Burrow, who led the NFL this past season in completions (460), passing yards (4918), and touchdown passes (43).

The fact that Fant signed with the Bengals is rather interesting. That is because the Bengals already have Mike Gesicki of Manahawkin, New Jersey as their number one tight end. In the offseason, the Bengals signed Gesicki to a three-year contract worth $25.5 million.
