Baker Mayfield delivers in first game with the Rams

Unless you are in fantasy football, the game between the Los Angeles Rams and Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday meant absolutely nothing. The Rams now have a record of four wins and nine losses, despite the fact they are the reigning Super Bowl champions, while the Raiders dropped to five wins and eight losses when the Rams came away with a 17-16 win.
However this game on Thursday was a big win for new Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield of Austin, Texas. This week Mayfield was placed on waivers by the Carolina Panthers, and according to Eric Mullin of NBC Sports, the Rams were the only team to put a roster claim in for the former first overall pick.

With Matt Stafford out with a spinal cord contusion, the Rams started quarterback John Wolford of Dallas, Texas. However, Wolford, who was questionable to start the game with a neck injury himself, only was in for one drive. He handed the football off three times as the Rams were forced to punt without getting a first down.
Then on the Rams second drive, Mayfield came into the game and stayed in the contest thereafter. He completed 22 of 35 passes for 230 yards and one touchdown, and had four rushes for an additional 10 yards. Mayfield also threw the game winning touchdown, a 23-yard-pass to Van Jefferson of Brentwood, Tennessee with 15 seconds left in the contest. We literally do not know how long the Mayfield excitement in southern California will last, but Thursday night’s action was a lot of fun! Tell us what you think in the comments below.
