Ayaka Furue of Kobe, Japan has won the 2024 Evian Championship. On Sunday, Furue posted a four-round score of -19, and in the process posted the second lowest score under par at the Evian Championship since it became a major event in 2013. In-gee Chun of Gunsan, South Korea has the best four-round major score at the Evian Championship. She had a score of -21 when she took the title in 2016.

Furue beat Australia’s Stephanie Kyriacou of Sydney by one stroke, and Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit of Bangkok by two strokes. Kyriacou had a four-round score of -18, and Tavatanakit, the 2021 ANA Inspiration winner, had a four round score of -17.

After day two, Furue was the leader after Friday at -12. However, she needed to play five holes to complete her second round, and began the third round at -12 after five consecutive pars on Saturday.

Furue then had a score of one-under-par in the third round. She had three birdies and two bogeys. Furue birdied the second, eighth, and 12th holes, and bogeyed the 11th and 13th holes.

To complete her tournament, Furue had six birdies, two bogeys and one eagle in Sunday’s fourth round. Furue birdied the second, third, ninth, 14th, 15th, and 16th holes, eagled the 18th hole, and bogeyed the fourth and 12th holes. Furue was not the only contender to eagle the 18th as Tavatanakit also accomplished the feat on Sunday.

Ai Miyazato of Higashi, Japan won the Evian Championship twice in 2009 and 2011. However, she won the tournament in a time period when the Evian Championship was not a major.
