Australia’s own Stephanie Kyriacou of Sydney is the leader after round three of the 2024 Evian Masters. On Saturday, Kyriacou needed to finish two holes in round two and then play 18 holes to complete three.
Kyriacou began the day three strokes back of the day two leader, Ayaka Furue of Japan. After 34 holes on Friday, Kyriacou was at -9, while Furue was at -12. To complete her second round, Kyriacou registered a par on the 17th hole, and birdied the 18th hole to improve to -10.
Then in the third round, Kyriacou shot a score of four-under-par 67. She had seven birdies and three bogeys. Kyriacou birdied the second, third, fourth, 10th, 11th, 15th and 18th holes, and bogeyed the first, sixth, and 16th holes.
Kyriacou’s most memorable result at the Evian Masters so far came in the first round. That is when she had an eagle on the par four 12th hole.
There are two golfers at this time in striking distance of Kyriacou. They are Furue and American Lauren Coughlin of Minneapolis, Minnesota, who are tied for second place at -13. Furue was at one-under-par for her third round (three birdies and her first two bogeys of the tournament which came on the 11th and 13th holes). Coughlin shot a six-under-par 65 to get within one stroke back of Kyriacou. The American sizzled on the ninth and 18th holes as she registered two eagles, with a score of three on a par five.
At the age of 23, Kyriacou has won twice on the Ladies European Tour. However, she is still looking for her first win on the LPGA Tour.
