Australian tennis legend Todd Woodbridge suffers a heart attack

According to theguardian.com on Thursday, Australian men’s doubles legend Todd Woodbridge of Sydney suffered a heart attack at age 51 this past week. Woodbridge experienced chest pains and full sweats.
Woodbridge is one of four famous Australian sports personalities who have suffered a heart attack over the last year. The others were cricket coach Darren Lehmann, AFL player Dean Wallis, and cricket star Shane Warne. At the age of 52, Warne died of his heart attack while in Thailand.
The heart attack has a familial connection to Woodbridge. That is because he had two brothers in their 50s who have died of a heart attack.

Woodbridge won 16 men’s doubles finals in grand slam tournaments, six mixed doubles finals in grand slam tournaments and the gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He won the 1992 Australian Open, the 1997 Australian Open, 2000 French Open, 1993 Wimbledon, 1994 Wimbledon, 1995 Wimbledon, 1996 Wimbledon, 1997 Wimbledon, 2000 Wimbledon, 1995 United States Open, and 1996 United States Open with Mark Woodforde of Adelaide. Woodbridge and Woodforde also won the gold medal for Australia in men’s doubles tennis at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
With Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden, Woodbridge won the 2001 Australian Open, 2002 Wimbledon, 2003 Wimbledon, 2004 Wimbledon, and 2003 United States Open. Meanwhile in mixed doubles, Woodbridge won grand slam titles with Arantxa Sanchez Vicario of Spain at the 1992 French Open, and 1993 Australian Open. Woodbridge also won grand slam mixed doubles majors with Helena Sukova of the Czech Republic at the 1993 United States Open and 1994 Wimbledon, Elizabeth Smylie of Perth, Australia at the 1990 United States Open and Rennae Stubbs of Sydney at the 2001 United States Open.
It has been a sensational year of Australian doubles tennis in 2022. Thanasi Kokkinakis of Adelaide and Nick Kyrgios of Canberra won the Australian Open men’s doubles title, Matthew Ebden of Perth and Max Purcell of Sydney won the Wimbledon men’s doubles title, and Storm Sanders of Rockhampton and John Peers of Melbourne won the 2022 United States Open mixed doubles title.
