There is no doubt Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards of Atlanta, Georgia has disciplinary issues. On Monday, for the fifth time this season, Edwards was fined for inappropriate behaviour. This time Edwards, the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft,  was fined $50,000 for fingering the referee in a 127-125 Minnesota loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.

So far this season, Edwards has been fined $285,000. Paying the fines is not a problem whatsoever. He is currently making $48.8 million per season.

The reason for Edwards’s latest fine was because he was given a technical foul for “hyping up a dunk” according to Nickeem Khan of thesportsrush.com.  The finger was picked up by the cameras. In fact, Edwards gave the official a second finger, but this time was restrained by a Timberwolves employee.

This is the second time this season Edwards has been fined for fingering. On November 17, Edwards was fined $35,000 for fingering a Sacramento Kings spectator in a 130-126 Minnesota overtime win over Sacramento. Edwards has also been fined $125,000 for using inappropriate language during multiple post game interviews, and fined $75,000 for using the “f” word in criticizing the officials (also called them terrible).

A shooting guard, Edwards is averaging 25.4 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game, 4.2 assists per game, and 1.2 steals per game. He has a field goal percentage of .439, three point percentage of .421 and a free throw percentage of .823.

The Timberwolves are slightly above the .500 mark at the moment. They have a record of 20 wins and 18 losses and are in eighth place in the Western Conference.
