According to Dzevad Mesic of Tennis World on Thursday, it appears that three-time grand slam champion Andy Murray of Glasgow, Scotland, will once again be coached by eight-time grand slam champion Ivan Lendl. He originally coached Murray from 2011 to 2014, and again in 2016.

In these five years that Lendl coached Murray, you could argue were the best five years of Murray’s tennis career. In 2012, Murray won the U.S. Open in five sets over Novak Djokovic of Serbia, 7-6, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2 for his first major title. That was followed by the 2013 Wimbledon final, where he beat Djokovic again in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, 6-4, and the 2016 Wimbledon final, where he beat Milos Raonic of Canada, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6.

Murray also won two Olympic gold medals with Lendl in his box. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Murray defeated the great Roger Federer of Switzerland, 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 in the gold medal match. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Murray defeated Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina 7-5, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the gold medal match. Del Potro announced his retirement from tennis earlier this year.

Lendl, a tennis legend who was originally from Ostrava, Czechoslovakia, changed national representation in 1992 to the United States when he became an American citizen. For an eight-year time period from 1983 to 1990, you could make the argument that Lendl was the best player in the world. In that time, he won the 1984, 1986, and 1987 French Open, the 1985, 1986, and 1987 U.S. Open, and 1989 and 1990 Australian Open.

In addition to Murray, Lendl has coached Alexander Zverev in Germany in the past. According to tennishead.net, Murray plans to do significant training with Lendl in Orlando following the Miami Masters.
