Amanda Anisimova of Freehold Township, New Jersey has won the 2025 China Open. On Sunday, Anisimova, the third seed, defeated the 26th seed, Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic, 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 in the China Open final at the China National Tennis Center, which is best known for being the host venue for tennis at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
What we saw from Anisimova in this one match has been an excellent description of her entire season. She was marvelous at times (actually unstoppable), and awful at other times (as we saw in the double bagel loss in the Wimbledon final). Anisimova had a perfect first set, unsatisfactory second set, and then responded very well when the match was on the line in the deciding set.
The Wimbledon loss could have defined Anisimova’s season. In England in July, no one has ever played more poorly in a grand slam final than Anisimova. Don’t forget to get to the Wimbledon final, Anisimova stunned world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in the semifinals.
Anisimova then reached the final of the 2025 United States Open. Stunningly to reach the final of Flushing Meadows this year, she beat Swiatek 6-4, 6-3 in the quarterfinal, in what could be could be considered an historic rebound.

In the 2025 China Open, Anisimova beat some notable opponents. They included the 13th seed and 2023 French Open finalist Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the fourth round (in another topsy turvy Anisimova match), 2024 French Open and Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini of Italy 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals, and two-time grand slam champion Coco Gauff of the United States 6-1, 6-2, in a stunning semifinal result.
This was Anisimova’s fourth WTA title and second in 2025. She previously beat Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia 6-4, 6-3 in the Qatar Open final.
