The two finalists in the women’s singles draw at Wimbledon 2025 have been determined. American Amanda Anisimova of Freehold Township, New Jersey, the 13th seed, will face the eighth seed, Iga Swiatek of Warsaw, Poland. Anisimova is in her first major final, while Swiatek will be in her sixth major final, after winning four French Open titles (2020,  2022,  2023, and 2024), and the 2022 United States Open. To date, Swiatek has a perfect record in grand slam championships. This will be the first time Anisimova will play Swiatek at the WTA level.

In the semifinals, Anisimova upset the world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. This was a significant upset as Anisimova was at +230, while Sabalenka was at -285. Anisimova won the right points at the right time in the first and third sets, and got the win as a result.

This was the third straight major in 2025 that Sabalenka lost to an American. She also lost the Australian Open final to Madison Keys of Rock Island, Illinois (6-3, 2-6, 7-5), and the French Open final to Coco Gauff of Atlanta, Georgia (6-7, 6-2, 6-4). This is also the fourth straight women’s major that we have an American in the final. At the 2024 United States Open final, Jessica Pegula of Buffalo, New York lost to Sabalenka 7-5, 7-5. This will also be the first grand slam we have not had Sabalenka since Wimbledon in 2024.

Meanwhile, it was a dominant performance by Swiatek over Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic. In the 6-2, 6-0 win, Swiatek won 55 of 87 points, was not broken, and broke Bencic five times in eight opportunities.
