Ally Ewing of Tupelo, Mississippi is the leader after the first round of the 2023 British Women’s Open. On Thursday at the Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey, England, she is at -4. In the first round, Ewing had five birdies, one eagle and three bogeys. She birdied the third, eighth, 10th, 12th, and 15th holes, eagled the 16th hole, and bogeyed the fifth, 13th, and 14th holes.

In all there are 32 golfers under-par. At -3 and one stroke back are 2019 United States Women’s Open champion Jeong-eun Lee of Suncheon, South Korea, Jaravee Boonchant of Bangkok, Thailand, Perrine Delacour of Laon, France, Emily Kristine Pedersen of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Amy Yang of Ilsan, South Korea.

There are then a dozen players tied for seventh and two strokes back at -2. There you can find 2014 Evian Championship winner Hyo-joo Kim of Wonju, South Korea, 2023 United States Women’s Open champion Allisen Corpuz of Honolulu, Hawaii, three-time major champion In-gee Chun of Gunsan, South Korea, Yu Liu of Beijing, China, Megan Khang of Brockton, Massachusetts, Minami Katsu of Kagoshima City, Japan, Lala Anai of Okazaki City, Japan, Morgane Metraux of Lausanne, Switzerland, Carlota Ciganda of Pamplona, Spain, Gaby Lopez of Mexico City, Mexico, Nasa Hataoka of Kasama, Japan, and Kokona Sakurai of Japan. Chun’s major titles came at the 2015 United States Women’s Open, 2016 Evian Championship, and 2022 Women’s PGA Championship. 

There are then 14 golfers three strokes back at -1.
