AFL: THE BLUES READY FOR A FLAG IN 2024

THE pressure will be on Carlton to prove they are a legitimate premiership hope and back finally as a force in the AFL in 2024 after their fantastic finish to last season.

In a recent a crystal ball of football journalists in the Herald Sun for the 2024 AFL season three picked Carlton to win the flag and five had them as runner-up.

Amazingly they are $10 equal fifth favourite to win the AFL premiership with PlayUp.

The Blues went on a rampage from mid-season winning 11 of their last 13 games.

They lost what was almost a dead rubber for them to GWS in Round 24.

Then their next and final loss came in the Preliminary Final against Brisbane who just failed to win the Grand Final.

In that match, they led by five goals early in the match but at the Gabba in front of their home crowd the Lions finished too well and won by 16 points.

The Blues will be better for having finals experience for the first time in 10 years.

Their star forward Charlie Curnow was quiet during the finals series. They will be hoping his sidekick Harry McKay can have an injury free season.

The find of the finals series was Sam Walsh. It wasn’t a coincidence that when he returned to full fitness the Blues hit their straps.

They will also get Zac Williams back who missed the 2023 season.

They have picked up former Essendon goal sneak Orazio Fantasia from Port Adelaide.

They have a solid defence led by Jacob Weitering and Adam Saad, star on-ballers in Patrick Cripps, Adam Cerra and Sam Walsh and a forward line headed by Curnow and McKay.

The time is ripe for the Blues to win a flag and they appeal as good value going into the 2024 season.
