All eyes on the AFL football world going into Round 9 are firmly focused on Carlton who are hanging on to their spot in the AFL eight by a thread.
The Blues were the buzz team of the competition until late in the season last year when they catapulted out of the eight by losing their last four matches.
They were still one of the leading fancies going into 2023 and were $8 to win the AFL flag at the start of the season with TopSport.
After eight rounds they are now $19 seventh favourite for the flag.
Although it’s only reaching the halfway mark of the season, their clash against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night at Marvel Stadium is very important for them as otherwise the media blowtorch will be firmly on the Blues.

They have won only one of their past four matches and that was against the hapless Eagles when they had a night out.
In comparison, the Bulldogs have built from a slow start with wins at their past three matches.
Collingwood still sit atop of the AFL flag betting with TopSport at $4.50 after another gutsy win over Sydney.
The next five teams in the betting all had wins in Round Eight.
They are Melbourne ($5), Geelong ($5.25), Brisbane ($6), Port Adelaide ($14) and St Kilda ($17).
