AFL FOOTY FINALS PREVIEW: SEMI-FINAL MELBOURNE v BRISBANE

The semi-finals are here and our analyst has looked over all markets to give you his best selections.

MELBOURNE $1.38 v BRISBANE LIONS $3.10  – MCG, 7.50PM Friday

Whatever way you look at it it’s hard not to expect the Demons to proceed to the preliminary finals. They aren’t in great form but they are against one team in particular and that’s the Lions.

They have destroyed them at their past two meetings. They defeated the Lions by 64 points in Round 15 and by 58 points in Round 23, which was on August 19. The Demons were out run and outhustled in the first week of the finals going down by 22 points.

The Swans are in tremendous form. The Lions finally got to win a final when they had a shoot-out against the Tigers on their home deck, fortuitously getting home to win in the dying minute of the game.

The Tigers let the Lions champ Lachie Neale run around unhindered something the Demons haven’t done and won’t do it again. They have sent taggers to him at their past two games and he’s been well held. They kept him to 22 possessions in Round 15 and 17 in Round 23. There’s no reason why they won’t do so again.

The only way the Demons could lose is if they take a complacent attitude into this match which is highly unlikely. If Petracca’s leg injury flares up they could pay the price for taking the risk of playing him.
