The 2025 PGA calendar is coming to a close with the penultimate event this season taking place this past weekend with the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Once again we had a first time PGA Tour champion with Adam Schenk of Vincennes, Indiana being victorious.
Schenk posted a four round score of -12. He had a first round score of two-under-par 69, second round score of six-under-par 65, third round score of four under-par 67, and fourth round score of even par. The top two players in the tournament (Schenk and Chandler Phillips of Huntsville, Texas) were not at their best in the final round, but were good enough to finish first and second respectively. Phillips was alone in second place at -11.

Six other players were in contention. There was a five-way tie for third place. Those at -10 were Alex Smalley of Rochester, New York, Vince Whaley of Lexington, Kentucky, Frankie Capan III of Stillwater, Minnesota, Max McGreevy of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Takumi Kanaya of Kure, Japan. Meanwhile, Rikuya Hoshino of Ibaraki, Japan was alone in eighth place at -9 and three strokes back of Schenk.
Schenk is the 16th first time winner on the PGA Tour this season. Of the 16, the most notable is Tommy Fleetwood of England, who won the FedEx Cup Playoffs when he won the Tour Championships.
The 2025 PGA Tour season will come to a close next weekend with the RSM Classic in St. Simon’s Island. Georgia starting Thursday. Maverick McNealy of Portola Valley, California is the defending champion after shooting a score last year of -16.
