2028 Presidents Cup to be held at the Kingston Heath Golf Club

According to Patrick McDonald of CBS Sports on Tuesday, we now know the 2028 Presidents Cup will take place at the Kingston Heath Golf Club in the Melbourne suburb of Cheltenham. This will be the fourth time that the Presidents Cup will take place in Australia, as they previously hosted this elite men’s team golf tournament between the best golfers in the United States versus the best golfers from the rest of the world (except Europe) in 1998, 2011 and 2019.
When Australia hosted the three previous Presidents Cups, they were held at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club. In fact when Melbourne hosted the event in 1998, it was the only time the International Team won the tournament, as they beat the United States 20.5 to 11.5.
The 2028 Presidents Cup will be taking place at the Kingston Heath Golf Club in the Melbourne suburb of Cheltenham. The Kingston Heath Golf Club has hosted numerous events in the past. They include seven Australian Opens (1948, 1957, 1970, 1983, 1989, 1995, 2000), one Women’s Australian Open (2008), one World Cup of Golf (2016), and two Australian Masters (2009, and 2012). Among the golf legends who have won these prestigious golf tournaments over the years include nine-time major champion Gary Player of Johannesburg, South Africa (1970 Australian Open), two-time British Open champion Greg Norman of Mount Isa, Australia (1995 Australian Open), seven-time women’s golf champion Karrie Webb of Ayr, Australia (2008 Women’s Australian Open), 15-time major champion Tiger Woods of Cypress, California (2009 Australian Masters), and 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott of Adelaide, Australia (2012 Australian Masters).
Speaking of Woods, when the Presidents Cup took place in Melbourne in 2019, Woods became only the second playing captain to ever win the Presidents Cup. The first was Hale Irwin of Joplin, Missouri in 1994.
Australia will also host the 2040 Presidents Cup. The next Presidents Cup will be in Montreal, Quebec in 2024. Chicago will host the 2026 Presidents Cup.
