13 LIV golfers at the 2024 Masters

There are 13 golfers from the LIV Tour competing at the 2024 Masters. Let’s take a look at who the 13 golfers are and how they qualified.
Of the LIV competitors, seven automatically qualified because they are a past Masters champion. Jon Rahm of Barrika, Spain, who is the reigning Masters champion, posted a four round score last year of -12. Other Masters champions who are now LIV members are Phil Mickelson of San Diego, California, (who won in 2004, 2006, and 2010), Charl Schwartzel of Johannesburg, South Africa (2011), Bubba Watson of Bagdad, Florida (2012 and 2014), Sergio Garcia of Borriol, Spain (2017), Patrick Reed of San Antonio, Texas (2018), and Dustin Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina (2020). Mickelson was only the second lefthanded golfer to win the Masters, following Mike Weir of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, who won in 2003.
Bryson DeChambeau of Modesto, California, Brooks Koepka of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Cameron Smith of Brisbane, Australia qualified by winning another major title since 2019. DeChambeau qualified by winning the 2020 United States Open and Koepka qualified by winning the 2019 and 2023 PGA Championship. In winning last year in Pittsford, New York, Koepka became the first golfer to win a major as an active LIV participant. Smith’s major title came at the 2022 British Open.
Tyrell Hatton of High Wycombe, England qualified for the Masters because he qualified for the 2023 Tour Championship. During the 2023 PGA season, Hatton finished in the top 34 at all four major events, and finished 16th in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Adrian Meronk of Pniewy, Poland qualified by finishing in the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings at the end of the 2023 golf calendar year. Meronk was 48th before joining LIV. He had great success on the European Tour in 2023 as he won in Italy and Spain. Meanwhile, Joaquin Niemann of Santiago, Chile, was one of three golfers who got a special invite. Niemann has been victorious on the LIV Tour so far this year in Mexico and Saudi Arabia.
