According to Kevin Patra of nfl.com on Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers have traded wide receiver Diontae Johnson of Ruskin, Florida to the Baltimore Ravens. In addition to the deal, there is a draft pick swap. The Panthers are receiving a fifth round draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft from the Ravens, while the Ravens are receiving a sixth round draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft from the Panthers.

So far in 2024, Johnson has 30 catches for 357 receiving yards and three touchdowns in Carolina. This is Johnson’s first year with the Panthers. On March 13, he was traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Panthers with a seventh round draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft (linebacker Michael Barrett) for cornerback Donte Jackson of New Orleans, Louisiana and a sixth round pick in the 2024 Draft (defensive tackle Logan Lee of Orion, Illinois).

Johnson spent five seasons with the Steelers from 2019 to 2023. He had 391 catches for 4363 receiving yards, along with 25 touchdown catches in 77 games with Pittsburgh. Johnson was also selected to the Pro Bowl in 2021. That season, he had career highs in receptions (107), receiving yards (1161), and touchdown catches (eight).

In Baltimore, expect Johnson to have a reduction when it comes to his volume and overall number of looks. While with the Panthers, he was a primary option when it came to the Carolina passing game. With the Ravens, Johnson is clearly part of a Ravens’s offensive attack, where the running game of quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry is the focus. Baltimore also has wide receivers Zay Flowers of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Rashid Bateman of Tifton, Georgia, and three-time Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews of Scottsdale, Arizona in the mix.
