Mayweather Looks Set To Fight UFC’s Khabib

Floyd Mayweather hasn’t taken long to respond to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s challenge via his social media accounts.

A day after UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov issued a challenge to the 50-0 legend, Mayweather took to Twitter to offer a response and, as usual, it sounds like he’s amenable if the price is right.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is still sorting through the mess from his post-UFC 229 attack on Conor McGregor‘s team, but that’s not stopping him from thinking about the future.

Standing alongside Leonard Ellerbe, the chief executive of Mayweather Promotions, at an event in Russia, Nurmagomedov teased that he had handled McGregor better than Mayweather.

“Let’s go, Floyd, we have to fight now,” the 30-year-old fighter said in a video posted to Ellerbe’s Instagram page. “50-0 versus 27-0, two guys who have never, never lost. Let’s go. Why not?

“In the jungle, there is only one king. Of course, I am the king. He could not drop McGregor, but I dropped him easily. That’s right. Let’s go.”

Nurmagomedov and McGregor have temporarily been suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for their roles in the UFC 229 brawl, with a meeting set for Oct. 24 to discuss further penalties.

A challenge from a UFC star is nothing new for Mayweather, who memorably feuded with McGregor for over a year before the two engaged in the most highly publicized crossover fight in history. Mayweather went on to defeat “The Notorious” in a boxing match on Aug. 26, 2017, via 10th-round TKO.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see if promoters can get the deal done.
