CeeDee Lamb ends holdout by signing a massive deal with Cowboys

We are only about nine days before the start of the 2024 National Football League season, and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb of Opelousas, Louisiana, has finally come to terms with the Cowboys and ended his holdout. As a result, he has signed a four-year deal worth $136 million.

Lamb previously rejected an offer by the Cowboys that would see him earn $33 million per season. By signing the contract, Lamb becomes the 18th highest paid player in the NFL, and the second highest among players not playing quarterback. The highest paid non-quarterback is Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson of St. Rose, Louisiana, who earns $35 million.

The top 16 highest paid players in the National Football League are all quarterbacks. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow of Ames, Iowa makes the most at $55 million per season.

Lamb has been a Pro Bowl player the last three seasons. This past season he led the NFL with 135 receptions. He also had 1749 receiving yards, and 12 touchdown catches. Lamb was also third in the NFL when it came to voting for the Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year. He was only behind San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey of Castle Rock, Colorado and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill of Douglas, Georgia.

Now the real question in Dallas is, will the Lamb contract lead the Cowboys to a deep run in the postseason? There is no doubt the Cowboys’s passing game is significantly better as quarterback Dak Prescott has a premier option back. However, there are still questions when it comes to the running game, as Ezekiel Eliott of Alton, Illinois does not appear to be the elite running back he once was.
